Thunderstorms in Guadeloupe: Saint-Barth Executive reaffirms its absolute priority to safety

After a lightning strike on its hangar at Raizet airport, St Barth Executive activates its safety protocols to ensure flight continuity and passenger peace of mind.
An exceptional situation managed with rigor
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, a thunderstorm episode of rare intensity struck Guadeloupe. Lightning directly hit the technical hangar of Saint-Barth Executive at Pôle Caraïbes airport, as well as an aircraft from the Air Inter Îles fleet, a subsidiary operated by the company.
Thanks to strict and proven safety devices, teams immediately contained the risks. No injuries were reported and preventive measures worked as planned. As a precaution, the aircraft concerned was immediately grounded and will undergo thorough technical inspections in coordination with the manufacturer and competent aviation authorities.
With the fleet remaining distributed across multiple bases, flight continuity is ensured. Some routes may be subject to slight schedule adjustments, communicated to passengers on a case-by-case basis.
Safety, a corporate culture anchored in every decision
At Saint-Barth Executive, safety exceeds regulatory requirements because it is an integral part of the corporate culture. Each event is handled with the transparency and professionalism expected of a major player in French air transport. This commitment translates concretely into rigorous maintenance, a modernized fleet and teams continuously trained in emergency protocols.
Air Inter Îles was recently recognized as the first TECNAM-approved maintenance center in the Caribbean, further strengthening its capabilities to anticipate and effectively manage this type of incident.
Saint-Barth Executive wishes to reassure all of its clientele, partners and teams: its absolute priority remains safety.
